What is Rahatakaisin?
Rahatakaisin is a Finnish language cashback service. When you shop online via Rahatakaisin, you get part of the commission the shop pays back as real money: not as points and not as vouchers. The service is run by the Norwegian company Monsen AS in Bergen. Norway belongs to the European Economic Area, so the EU General Data Protection Regulation applies in full to your data as well.
Does using Rahatakaisin cost anything?
No. Rahatakaisin is free of charge, with no monthly fee and no commitment. You pay the shop exactly the same price as if you went straight to the shop's own page, and the cashback comes on top. Rahatakaisin earns from the commission the shop pays and passes the larger share of it on to you. Opening and closing an account is free as well.
Do I need a discount code?
No. Getting money back through Rahatakaisin requires no discount code: you click from the Rahatakaisin page to the shop and pay in the usual way with your own payment card. The purchase is registered automatically, without a code and without a receipt. Rahatakaisin never sees your card details and does not store them. The only thing that matters is that you start the purchase from our link.
How do I log in?
You log in to your Rahatakaisin account with your email address or your Google account. Nothing else is needed: no separate app and no online banking credentials, and creating an account requires no personal identity number. Rahatakaisin sends notifications to the same email address. You can log out and delete the account whenever you like.
How much cashback do I get?
Half of the Rahatakaisin partners pay back between 7 and 14% of the purchase amount; some pay a fixed amount in euros instead. The percentage depends on the shop and is always shown on the partner page before you click through, so you know exactly what you get before you buy. The same percentage applies to every user: there are no separate tiers and no membership fee.
When does the money show in my account?
After a purchase the shop reports the sale to Rahatakaisin, and the amount first appears in your account with the status "Pending". While the item can still be returned, the sale is not final. Confirmation usually arrives within 30 days and may take as long as 90 days; after that the amount can be withdrawn. The status of each purchase is shown under My account.
How is the money paid out?
Rahatakaisin pays the money out through a Revolut payment link: you receive the link and fill in the details yourself. Rahatakaisin never asks for your account number, neither by email nor in chat, and does not store it. A withdrawal can be made once the balance is at least 10 €. If someone asks for your account number in our name, it is a scam.
Do I have to pay tax on the cashback?
Money received back through Rahatakaisin is a discount on your own purchase, not income: you get back part of what you have already paid yourself. What that means in your own situation depends on personal circumstances. Rahatakaisin is not a tax adviser and gives no tax advice: in unclear cases, ask the Finnish Tax Administration (Verohallinto).
